Hi everyone again, Today my mondeo developed a strange power loss. Engine revs up to 4000 / 5000 even above easily when gears are not engaged and also in first and second gear when driving. But the problems starts in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gear when i push the accelerator pedal to floor to overta
The problem is a damaged seal on the gearbox. Fordhas produced a repair kit (part number: 1863642), so you’ll need to follow the procedure in your Haynes Mondeo manual for removing the affected seal, then fit the new one before reassembling the, making sure that all fastenings are done up to the correct torque.
I wonder if there is a hydraulic problem with these cars that Ford aren't talking about. Upon having the clutch repaired, it was discovered that there was a problem with the input shaft on the gearbox. When the specialists came to rebuild it, they found it impossible to source a second hand input shaft that was usable.

#1 · Jan 10, 2013 (Edited by Moderator) Hi I have a Mondeo 2010 Petrol Car. On cold mornings I cannot disengage from reverse gear. I have to switch off the engine and depress the clutch pedal 4 or 5 times before I can disengage. Once the engine is restared it wont engage into 1st. I have to double declutch a few times before I can engage 1st gear.
I have a 2012 Mondeo Estate Mk4 2.0tdci that has developed an irritating problem with the driver front door lock. It only affects this lock. When you press the button on the key fob to unlock the doors, it makes the noise (so you know it has unlocked, you know then reassuring clunk) but sometimes the door unlocks and sometimes it doesn't.
When the gear knob is off carefully lift there lift revers off careful not to tip the spring out and place it to one side. Lift the old gaiter off and leave the plastic piece with the 2 arms where it is. My old gaiter was strongly stapled in place on the base take the staples off with care not to crack the plastic base.
The resovior is shared with the brake master cylinder, as the brake pads wear and the fluid level goes down the pick up point for the clutch is higher than the brakes so you loose the clutch before you loose the brakes. so if you are very very lucky all you need to do is top up the brake master cylinder with brake fluid.
Posted April 5, 2018. The Focus MK3/MK3.5 lower gearbox mounts are known to be quite soft to reduce vibrations. This is a product feature and not a problem. The downside is that the engine can move quite a bit. Changing the gearbox mount for a standard version will probably not solve the problem.
Incredibly, the Ford seller couldn't answer me this question and the owner's manual isn't clear as well: while it says that "When you select position S, a gear change may occur depending on the accelerator pedal position in relation to actual vehicle speed" - thus implying that it can, indeed, be changed while moving - it also clearly says to

I recently upgraded my trusty old focus for a 2010 Mondeo mk4 estate titanium 163 with the powershift box. The guy I bought it from had a brand new clutch fitted last year at a cost of £1900 My problems started when I booked it in to have the oil and filter changed on the box, which the previous owner had never done in it's 7 year life.

Modern ECU's will typically prevent actual startup when cranking if certain parameters aren't within a set range. I know from using Forscan on my MK2 Focus 1.8 TDCi that if the fuel rail pressure isn't above a certain figure there is a specific code/PID that is YES/NO, YES = as far the ECU is concerned it will try to start the car and NO = no matter how long I crank it won't start.
