Eventually was doing while car was off and parked. Removed fuse. Removed head unit and found melted/overheated solder joint on board. Remelted solder and cleaned and replaced heat sink compound. Worked for couple days then problem again. It is generally accepted that the 2.0 is pretty solid engine. Treat it right with proper use/maintenance & it wont let you down. There seems to be the odd exception/horror story, but they are rare. Most of us will say they have had nothing but smooth sailing & that is including some extreme use examples.
It starts to move up when the coolant hits about 110° and shows fully warm at 120° to 125°. The car typically runs in the neighborhood of 200°, so this gauge is meaningless. Yep, but if it suddenly jumps up to the red then there are problems and that is helpful to that extent.

Posted January 4, 2018. Ford installed the TPMS tyre deflation detection system as standard on Focus MK3 versions produced after approximately 03-2014. Earlier vehicles did have the optional DDS tyre defation detection system. TPMS based Focus MK3/MK3.5 versions do no longer support the DDS system.
