I took it to a shop to see what the problem was but my mechanic isn't very new into the computer driven cars now a days but he tried his best. What we found was that at idle the sensor for the turbo reads 14 Ibs of boost. when at idle, it should be negative because its a vacuum. We tried replacing the sensor but the new one read the same thing.
But i took her for a decently long drive yesterday and half way through, the Tachometer went nuts and turned itself 1000 rpm off. At idle, it sat just above 2000 revs. but it sounded and felt normal. The car drove just fine, minus the tach telling me ~3300 at 60mph!! THEN it went 2000 rpm off! again, idle at 3k and cruising at ~4300!!!

2013 focus st. Started with the popping and cracking, would reset after turning car on and off. Eventually was doing while car was off and parked. Removed fuse. Removed head unit and found melted/overheated solder joint on board. Remelted solder and cleaned and replaced heat sink compound. Worked for couple days then problem again. It is generally accepted that the 2.0 is pretty solid engine. Treat it right with proper use/maintenance & it wont let you down. There seems to be the odd exception/horror story, but they are rare. Most of us will say they have had nothing but smooth sailing & that is including some extreme use examples.
It starts to move up when the coolant hits about 110° and shows fully warm at 120° to 125°. The car typically runs in the neighborhood of 200°, so this gauge is meaningless. Yep, but if it suddenly jumps up to the red then there are problems and that is helpful to that extent.
